The Alberni District Fall Fair Association presents
“Growing Connections” with Virtual and a Live Event
As you know, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Alberni District Fall Fair was
forced to go in a different direction in 2020. Instead of our annual gathering at the
fairgrounds, we hosted a Virtual Fair, where we showcased local businesses,
sponsors, agriculture education, home arts competitions, entertainment, and
some entertainers. We were pleased with the response with over 20,000 clicks on
the site. Through this platform that can be still viewed at www.myfair.ca
businesses, community organizations, entertainers, and sponsors had the
opportunity to create Live Booths and interact with fair attendees over Facebook
Live. The result was, we managed with the help of the creators of the virtual fair
site to receive recognition with an Innovation Award by our national organization.
In 2021 we want to build on a virtual fair site as we grow connections, we feel the
virtual component can enhance any live event we host.
Our annual raffle this year offers $30,000. cash prize. Tickets are on sale from
May 10th to September 12th or while they last for $10.00 per ticket with only 6000
tickets available. The purchaser can get tickets online from our website and they
are available at various local outlets and farm and craft markets as COVID -19
Our sponsors play a big role in the success of the fair and events we host, we will
again be offering promotional spots on the virtual fair site over the course of the
fair weekend that will also be active throughout the year.
We know the community looks forward to coming together with virtual connections
and in-person events. We are looking to host a special event by growing
connections Fall Fair weekend Sept 11th and 12th as restrictions somewhat lift.
We will make an announcement as plans progress.
